Help to Move Forward
We sometimes suffer from the delusion that life will proceed in an orderly straight line, a nice ascending graph of prosperity, happiness and fulfilment. Reality has the habit of bringing us back to earth regularly, and this is when we need close friends and ‘elders’ to help us through when things seem to be going wrong.
This is when a balanced approach can be most helpful: make sure to keep the body working smoothly through exercise, massage or saunas for cleansing. When the energy is flowing freely there is less chance that the mind or emotions will get ‘stuck’. Maintain the quality of nutrition – you are going to need ‘brain food’ to think your way ahead.
This is a good time to look at the overall balance in your life: are you happy in what you do? Do you spend enough time with your friends and family? Do you do things that you enjoy doing just for yourself? When we get stuck in the rut of ‘duty’ and ‘habit’ it can often take a crisis to shake up our thinking and get us being a bit more creative about our lives.
What stops us is often a deeply-inbuilt fear of change and an unwillingness to take risks. But do we want to be the same for ever? No! So we have to learn to accept change and go with it willingly – it is the only way that we can really grow as human beings. Health Kinesiology is great at identifying where our individual sticking points are and helping us to let go of the fears around them. The fear eats up energy and keeps us trapped – once the fears are gone we find the will to make change work in our lives. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) is another easy technique for handling fears: Paul McKenna used it with great success to help people who were terrified of flying. You can download a manual or look for a therapist here.
Each of us has our own hurdles to leap, but examples of some that have been helped through HK are: passing a driving test, overcoming a fear of heights, accepting intimacy in a relationship, letting go of fears about job performance. Whether big or small, fears and doubts inhibit our potential; if you need some help to realise yours, take a risk and ask for it! You will be amazed how simple it can be, once you have decided to do it.
